13navy – 2017-2018 Season

Coach: Whitney Heiden

Coach bio: I am so excited to be entering my 5th season with RVA and am looking forward to a great season. Last year I coached the 13 National team and 15 pink regional team with both team having winning records and always finishing in the top half of tournaments and taking a 5th place finish at Badger Regionals and finishing in the top 10 at Navy Pier Jr National tournament with my 13s last season. I played club volleyball for River City for 5 years, played in high school and continue to play. I graduated from UW-Whitewater in December 2015 with a minor in Athletic Coaching Education and a Major in Special Education. I graduated with honors and was on the Dean’s list for 5 semesters. During college I coached high school Varsity soccer for 5 years at Watertown High School, 5th grade volleyball for 2 years, youth soccer teams for 3 years, 5th grade boy’s basketball for 2 years and still continue to volunteer my time working with young student athletes in a variety of sports. Last year I coach the 7th grade A team for Jr. Laser’s (WYVL) taking 2nd place in pool play and 2nd place in the tournament. Currently I am coaching the 8A coach for the Jr Lasers WYVL team this year. On top of the Jr. Laser’s I am just finishing up my first year at Brookfield East High School as the Boys JV Head Coach. I was the 8th grade coach for the 2014-2015 season volleyball team at Kettle Moraine Middle School and ended as conference champs going undefeated (1st time in school history). My goal for each of my student athletes to take away at the end of the season is to be able to say that they not only grew as volleyball players but that they were able to come away with a better understanding of teamwork, dedication, hard work and the ability to push through the mental aspect of the game. If my players are able to walk away with this mind set, I know as a coach these players will succeed not just as volleyball players but in life and will make a difference in their communities.
